The trip will be tailored to the needs and requests of the clients. Most things can be flexible depending on requests, weather and the feelings of the clients.

Itinerary

Day 1: 22nd December Arrival Kiruna and transfer to the Mountains

Arrival Kiruna Airport by private jet: Time TBC. Welcome and Private Transfer to the beautiful Bjorkliden in the mountains, 1.5 hours.

On arrival check in to 2 x Solhyllan Chalet, which are the highest standard accommodation in the area. For this trip we have added hosting and hotel service daily (towel change, cleaning etc) as well as some evenings with a private chef. Each chalet has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, private sauna, private balcony with hot tub, full kitchen and cosy lounge with wood burning fire.

On arrival you will find your winter clothing (warm winter jacket and trousers), snowshoes and cross country skis that will be for your use during the whole trip.

3 course dinner served in Solhyllan by private chef.

After dinner one of the professional Aurora photographers from Lights over Lapland will collect you and tell you all about life in Abisko and Bjorkliden which are renowned as being the best place in the world for viewing the Northern Lights. Join the photographer deep in the wilderness of the National Park to look for the Northern Lights. You will journey to your location on snowmobile sleigh and whilst at your dark location enjoy the services of 2 guides, hot drinks and snacks! They will take a selection of 10 – 20 photos for you that you will be able to keep as memories of your amazing trip! Smores cooked over the bonfire will be certain to keep you warm on your first night in the Arctic!

Day 2: 23rd December: Activity Day

Breakfast in the restaurant

After breakfast your private host will meet you for the first time to discuss your programme. They will then take you out for a wilderness skills with snowshoe or skiing activity with lunch served in the wilderness.

Return after lunch to relax in your chalets hot tub and sauna.

Day 3: 24th December: Ice Fishing and Christmas Eve

After breakfast your group has 2 options. For those who are feeling more active join the guide for a trip into the mountains to try your luck at catching some fish. Lunch will be served in the hotel restaurant so you can warm up!

For those looking for a quieter morning join the shared “Christmas Traditions” Tour. Get to know the Swedish way of celebrating this special time of the year and what Christmas here is really like. We go for a short torchlight walk to one of Björklidens most historical buildings where we spend an afternoon in front of the fire, snacking on traditional holiday treats, doing some Christmas crafting and learning about Swedish Christmas traditions. And who knows, with all that Christmas spirit flying around, maybe Santa turns up..

Meet the rest of the group for lunch in the restaurant.

The rest of the day will be at leisure to relax and enjoy the Christmas celebrations.

A traditional Julbord Dinner will be served mid to late afternoon in the restaurant.

Northern Lights Opportunities from your chalet.

Day 4: 25th December: Arctic Day

Tailor-made Arctic Day. Your private guide will tailor this day based on the interests of the group. It could include snowmobile driving – 2 per snowmobile, outdoor skills, outdoor lunch, ice fishing, local wildlife and history of the area. The location will depend on conditions but may be in the National Park or may be in the mountain area behind the chalets.

Return to your chalets to relax, take a sauna and hot tub.

Evening dinner in restaurant.

Day 5: 26th December: Husky Sledding and Taste the Arctic

Private Husky Sledding Tour in Abisko National Park or Bjorkliden Mountains. During this tour your husky musher will drive you on large sleds so you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful views of the National Park.

Lunch will be served in the hotel restaurant

Optional 13:00: Ice Skating tour on nearby frozen pond with guide (shared activity)

Return to your chalets to relax with hot tub and sauna.

In the evening your private guide and chef will take you to a secret spot to enjoy a Taste the Arctic Evening. During this amazing wilderness dinner you will hear stories of the area, learn about local produce, help to cook (optional) the ingredients and enjoy the delicious food. The secret spot will be a perfect place to look for the magical Aurora Borealis! If the weather is not perfect or you prefer to stay in the warm then the dinner can easily be moved to the chalet.

Day 6: 27th December: Departure

Breakfast served in the restaurant.

Check out and luggage transfer to hotel reception. Your hosts will help you check out and wave you off in your private transfer back to the airport.
